Habit of a writer.
Just in case no one told you yet today.
You are unique in a great way.
Sure you have quirks, but what would life be without the occasional cloudy sky.
Also, you are capable of everything you set your mind too.
That’s the plan at least.
My momma used to say if you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all.
Well, that’s today’s entry see you guys later.
Why are you still here?
If everyone around you was quiet would you be worried that they were thinking derogatory things about you?
Does false flattery create more emotional damage than the cold hard truth?
These are the questions to consider.
My whole adolescents, I was told I was a smart kid. Yet, when the rubber met pavement I struggled and took longer to learn things. Guess I wasn’t that smart after all.
Before starting this entry things were begging me to become distracted. All the cool things on the internet needed to be seen. I said no. I’ve got to get these words out. GO ME!
Little victories I suppose.
Cultures and the way things work are interesting. I watched a youtube video, called “If Grocery stores were honest.” Although there was no quantifiable or qualitative data to support the claims made in the video, they did go over some practices of grocery stores in the US. The video was supposed to be satirical not a documentary so I really can’t complain about the lack of sources.
One of the things that I thought interesting was the location of vegetables and fruits. It seems if people go through the vegetable area first they are more likely to purchased the heavily processed foods as they continue to shop. Another thing that was interesting was dependent on where you are in the world the flow of shopping changes, either clockwise or counter clock wise.
It is just the way things are I guess.
I am not sure if that helps you in your daily life, but now you’ve got a sweet factoid to break out at the next fancy cocktail party you attend.
I met a serious writer this morning. His name was patrick, a native alaskan, who loves Disneyland, so much he got married for it. (Well not really, but he married into the Disneyland corporation.) Patrick, preferrably called rick, was a man in his early fifties, who had let the sedentary life get a hold of him. His health had detoriated and now he has a self proclaimed keg upon his midsection. This guy writes 5,000 words a day, so he claims and runs six blogs and has an account on medium but doesn’t use it. I am not sure why this is relevant to you, but it is interesting to report about other writers and the habits they have to get in the zone.
He just sits and writes upto sixteen hours a day. Holy smokes I thought!
Rick certainly is about the throwing enough spaghetti at the wall, eventually something would stick method of operation.
He also stated that when the days he doesn’t hit his mark, he feels like a failure.
Yet when pursuing those accolades, he neglected other things in his life. He is on his second marriage, there was no mention of children, and his health has be declining for the past couple years, lastly he says he suffers from anxiety attacks.
Maybe I was asking the wrong questions.
Yet I couldn’t help but think if he shifted his focus just a little he could have prevented all those nagging things that are hindering him.
I probably am judging pretty hard.
The price of passion I guess. Or is it the physical consequences from a mental pursuit. If I wrote 5,000 words a day I would run out of things to say quick. Sure I could jump into the world of fiction and play around, but I have a mental block about how creative I really am.
Which is why Rick also watched another self reported 100–200 movies a week.
He did say that his cinema afficionado does provide him with material to write about, but still.
Maybe this is Rick’s plan all along. Be such an outlier that people can’t help but talk about you.
and thus is why I started today’s entry with “You are unique in a great way.”
Because it is in our individuality we become less forgettable.
Welp I hit my words.
I’ve got a show out in LA tonight.
So if you are in that area, head over to the Redwood Lounge, and check out Graves and The Bad Weather @ 9:30pm.
and as always,
