“Do you remember?” Fableton hovered close to Stuckey.

“Remember what Nuck Nuck said?”

“Yea! It was great, he had no idea what I was talking about!” Stuckey answered.

“Why is that great?”

“Because it, show us what a blank canvas we have.” Stuckey smiled.

“Blank canvas? What do you mean?” Fableton being the curious one.

“What if, we are supposed to bridge the gap. Like they are strong, we are smart, or at least we know how to turn things on. So what if we just help guide humanity from the stone age to post industrial? In a jiffy. Instead of it taking fifteen thousand years, we can nudge it just a titch. Like what if in our new present we make great things happen sooner? We can omit the things we don’t like.” Stuckey’s preached through a smile, that soon vanished.

The onset of side effects of ingesting fungi, can be generic, but affects everyone differently. The long of the short of it is, it is ingested and therefore must be exited.

May your body favor you.

Fableton’s body had fought it for as long as it could, Stuckey’s body was quite the opposite. Stuckey felt retching gurgling burning rise up from his gut. Fableton, heard a low rumble from his belly, then the sensation of every sphincter muscle in his body going numb.

“Oh God! I don’t feel so good….” These were the last words said before Stuckey knelt and everything in his stomach came out.

Fableton fumbled his way to a fallen log, and threw his body over it. This exertion, combined with the food poisoning, meant that at every shift of body weight, his focus changed and lost control. After positioning himself over the log, a great sense of relief echoed. He no longer had to squeeze tight to hold himself together.

“Aaaahhh.”

“Jesus, you guys are gross!” Anastasia started breathing into her shirt. The dirty fabric was a much better alternative to what the guys were spewing out.

Yet, as night turns into day, winter to spring, everything ends. Eventually the two dehydrated men, were able to compose themselves once again.

“I feel so empty, but so full.” Fableton spoke as he sunk into a slouched pose.

“I think it is time for bed.” Stuckey talked through his hand wiping his face.

“You guys have been great, but I think I am going to stay here a little while longer.” Anastasia through the chaos of the men’s psychedelic trips found a cozy warm spot next to the fire. Her view unobstructed of the ongoing observance of Took Took’s passing.

“Ok, but it is going to get cold soon. You coming Fableton?” Stuckey said. Hobbling his way to the Nimbus.

“I’ll be there! Just give me some time, got a cast on my foot ya know?”

The two men eventually scrambled off and were snoring soon enough. Anastasia kept her eyes on Nuck Nuck, Niata, Tani, Maia as they sang. The words meant nothing to her, but from the tone of each of their voices Anastasia’s soul clutched tragedy. These people have lost two of their own, within a week to calamity with wildlife. She noticed that yes these two funerals were similar but each song unique, and stretching longer than the previous. Her mind flashed back to the days of voice lessons, and the different warm up drills. Even thinking back to that memory her throat tensed up.

“How could they sing for so long?” She wondered to herself.

Things would be different this time though. The more time lost in those harmonious grievances, the more her eyes started to wander back to the bear and what was underneath. As the night starry sky drifted through, her curiosity grew. At first her gaze lingered mere seconds every ten minutes.

During the night her attention grew longer on the mushrooms. Her focus was split between the chants or what they could mean. A chill was coming. Not only were her extremities numb, but now each breath rose slowly above her face. A slim piece of space age fabric was her refuge, she wrapped it tightly around her. She was at her wit’s end, and stared solely on the shadowy bear corpse.

“Fuck it!” Were her words as she threw her blanket down quickly and sprinted across to the bear.

She found what she was looking for. In one motion she picked up a cap and bit down on it. Her desire was to be back under the blanket. With great agility she wrapped herself back up. Now she swallowed the rancid fungus down.

“Oh fuck, that’s terrible!” She felt if she dragged her tongue against her blanket, it would rid the foul taste from her mouth. She did just that.

Slowly her disgust began to fade away. A different sensation began to take hold. The sun was now stretching it’s warm fingers across the shadows. The fire now a pile of embers, Anastasia found a sliver of sunlight. An electrifying sensation tingled her skin as the sun reached her. She sat upon her crossed legs, and let the warmth in.

Moments came and went, and she was still not warm enough. Until, her neck began to smolder like she never left the fire. A tuft of her hair danced in the wind.

Yet, there was no wind.

It was the hot breath of Nuck Nuck.

His breath sizzled across her frosty skin. Another source of warmth wrapped her up as he held her against him. Anastasia pushed her body into him. She wasn’t sure if it was her or her instincts. A new sensation erupted as her breasts felt the heat of Nuck Nuck’s palms against them. Under many layers his hot hands melted her. Reflexes took over and she drove her fingers into his thick thighs. He responded by nibbling on her ear. His teeth gradually pinched harder upon her earlobe. Anastasia winced and yelped.

“Wait!”

Nuck Nuck instantly released her from his clinch.

“What about Naia?” She asked.

A loud grunt of a sigh broke Nuck Nuck’s composure.

“I wanted her here!” He exhaled into her ear.
